Menstrual Cups and Discs

Why buy menstrual cups and discs at nüshu?

At nüshu we believe every body is unique, which is why we offer menstrual cups and discs that adapt to you—not the other way around. Our products are designed to offer a comfortable, safe, and sustainable experience, made with medical-grade materials, free from toxins and respectful of your body and the planet.

We work with trusted brands and carefully select each model to cover different needs: from small cups for young people or those with a low cervix, to reusable menstrual discs that allow for sexual intercourse during your period.

In addition, all our products at nüshu are reusable, vegan, and recommended by health professionals. If you’re looking for a sustainable alternative to disposable tampons and pads, you can combine your cup or disc with our menstrual underwear or cloth pads, ideal for the first days or as extra protection at night.

Differences between menstrual cups

At nüshu, we work with two menstrual cup models from the brand Eureka!, both of medical-grade quality, reusable, and designed to adapt to different lifestyles. While they share the same anatomical base, there are key differences between them that can help you decide which one is best for you.

Eureka! Cup Classic: daily use, medium to heavy flow. Perfect for those who have already used a menstrual cup or prefer a model without additional mechanisms. It’s the softest cup on the market, and you’ll feel very comfortable wearing it.

Eureka! CUP (with emptying tube): allows you to empty the cup without removing it from your body. It’s a practical choice if you spend long hours away from home, don’t have access to a nearby sink, travel often, or want more autonomy during your period.

Both models are available at nüshu and you can combine them with our menstrual underwear or reusable liners if you’re just starting or prefer extra protection.

What is a menstrual disc and how does it work?

A menstrual disc is a reusable option to collect menstrual blood. It is placed higher than the cup, right at the base of the cervix. It’s as thin as a flower petal, flexible, and doesn’t create suction, which makes it more comfortable for many people. It has a reinforced rim to prevent leaks.

One of its advantages is that it can be worn during sex, without discomfort. Also available at nüshu as an alternative to menstrual cups.

What’s the difference between menstrual cups and discs?

Although both collect menstrual blood without absorbing it, cups and discs work differently:

  • The menstrual cup sits low in the vaginal canal and creates a slight suction, which helps prevent leaks.
  • The menstrual disc sits deeper and does not create suction, making it ideal for those with sensitivity, a weakened pelvic floor, or who want more freedom.

In addition, menstrual discs can be worn during sex, something not possible with menstrual cups.

Benefits of using a menstrual cup or disc instead of pads and tampons

If you’re looking for a healthier, more sustainable and cost-effective alternative to disposable products, menstrual cups and discs can be a great choice.

And if you prefer to combine options, at nüshu you’ll also find reusable cloth pads and menstrual underwear as a complement or occasional alternative.

How to clean and store your menstrual cup properly?

To ensure your menstrual cup lasts for years and remains 100% safe, it’s important to clean and store it properly:

  • During your cycle, rinse it with water each time you empty it. If needed, use an unscented, neutral soap.
  • After your period ends, sterilize it by boiling in water for 3–5 minutes.
  • Always store it in a dry, ventilated place, like a cotton pouch (avoid airtight containers).

This same care applies to reusable menstrual discs, which are also available at nüshu. Proper care extends their lifespan and supports your menstrual health sustainably.

Frequently asked questions about menstrual cups and discs

What size menstrual cup do I need?

It depends on your flow, age, whether you’ve had vaginal births, and your cervix height. At nüshu, we offer models designed to adapt to different bodies and life stages.

Is it normal for the cup to hurt when inserting it?

It shouldn’t hurt. If it does, it might not be the right size or you may need more practice inserting it. Use a water-based lubricant if needed and try different positions.

Can I sleep with a menstrual cup or disc in?

It’s not advisable to wear it for more than 8–12 hours at a time. So we recommend taking a break from the cup at night and using another external collection method like menstrual underwear or cloth pads for night use.

How many hours can I wear a menstrual cup?

Between 8 and 12 hours, depending on your flow. On heavier days, it’s best to empty it more frequently. Discs can also be worn for several hours without issues.

When is it not recommended to use a menstrual cup?

In cases of active vaginal infections, after certain gynecological procedures, or if you have a medical contraindication. Also not recommended in situations like a weakened pelvic floor, postpartum, vaginismus, vaginal pain, or after sexual trauma. If in doubt, consult your trusted health professional.
