Description

This reusable cotton cloth pad attaches to the underwear with a nickel-free snap button.
The nüshu cloth pads are soft, comfortable, breathable, and waterproof. They have several layers:
The layer of the cloth pad that is in contact with the vulva is made of 100% cotton flannel, a very soft and pleasant fabric that will not cause chafing or irritation to your skin.
Depending on the absorption level, each cloth pad has different inner layers that are also 100% cotton. These effectively and evenly absorb menstrual blood or discharge. A
dditionally, inside the reusable pad, there is an innovative laminated fabric that provides waterproofing, preventing blood from passing through and helping to avoid leaks and stains. This fabric also provides breathability, helping you feel dry and preventing the growth of fungi, candidiasis, and other bacteria. Finally, there’s a printed fabric that adds a cheerful touch to your period with vibrant and fun colors. This layer of the cloth pad is the one that goes in contact with your underwear. Choose the one that best represents you and brighten up your period days with personality and color. The fabrics used in the cloth pad are OEKO TEX® 100 certified, ensuring that they are free from harmful substances for your health and in all stages of the product’s manufacturing process, making cloth pads a perfect alternative for experiencing your period in a healthy, safe, and sustainable way, caring for both your skin and the planet.
You’ll enjoy your menstrual flow without itching, allergies, infections, or discomfort, and you’ll discover that cloth pads with blood stains do not smell.

Where are nüshu cloth pads made?

The nüshu cloth pads are made in Spain. Specifically in a town on the Catalan coast, in Canet de Mar. Each one has been handcrafted with quality, locally sourced materials. The impact we leave in the production process is very important to us, which is why the raw materials (thread, fabrics, buttons…), tools, and packaging are locally sourced. Due to this artisanal process, each cloth pad is unique and may vary slightly in size and shape compared to the image. Their high quality and dedicated production make them durable and resistant, lasting over 3 years.
They are vegan and free from animal cruelty. You’ll be surprised by their absorption capacity despite how thin they are.

How are reusable cloth pads used?

Once you have the cloth pads at home, wash them: we can’t know which warehouses the fabrics have been in or who may have touched them before you. This initial wash for reusable cloth pads can be done by hand or in the washing machine, but never above 30ºC, and avoid putting them in the dryer.
When using cloth pads, keep in mind that they cannot be used on both sides.
The side of the cloth pad that touches the vulva is the flannel layer. You can identify it because it is much softer, smooth (without any pattern), and has a seam that connects the absorbent layers inside.
For the washing process, please refer to the following section.
Once your period has ended and the cloth pads are clean, store them unfolded in a toiletry bag, pouch, or small box to keep them dust-free and clean.

How to wash reusable cotton cloth pads?

It is ideal to leave a gibrell in the toilet during the period.
When you take off the cloth compress, let it rest in the sink in cold water (never hot, which fixes the color of the blood on the fabric) and the blood will gradually come off the fabric. You can add a few drops of tea tree essential oil to the gibrell, as it is antibacterial and antifungal.
When the reusable pad has been in the water for a while, clean it by hand with neutral soap without scrubbing too hard, remove the excess water and lay it out to dry for the next day.
Once your period is over, you can put all the menstrual pads you’ve used in the washing machine with the rest of your clothes until your next period.
The waterproof fabric inside does not tolerate high temperatures, so never wash cloth pads above 30ºC, nor put them in the dryer or iron them.
The water with blood from the soaking bucket can be used to water your plants! It has many nutrients, and it’s a shame to waste it!
to remove stains from the most unruly cloth diapers, there are powerful remedies, from the most traditional ones like Hydrogen peroxide or sunlight (which is also antibacterial) and even more modern solutions like percarbonate or other stain removers on the market can help, but the most effective of all is learning to embrace the stains, as they are yours, from the menstrual blood that comes from within you. After all, you’ll be staining the cloth pads again in a few days.

Other models of cloth pads

Not all days of the cycle have the same amount of looseness or the same intensity of bleeding. So it is ideal that you have several models according to the needs of each moment. In the first and last days you may have less blood and maybe with a pad you already have more than enough. While on stronger days it is likely that you need a larger fabric pad with more absorption capacity. Or maybe you use another method of blood collection, like tampons, menstrual cups, or menstrual sponges, and you can go through the entire cycle combining this collection method with a cloth pantyliner…
So, here’s a brief summary of the different reusable cloth pads from nüshu that we’ve designed, which you can find on this website:

Salvaslip cloth:

Light absorbent fabric pad. It is ideal for the first and last days of the period or to combine with the tampon, menstrual cup or menstrual sponges during all days of bleeding. It’s also very practical for daily use if there is heavy discharge or for light urine leaks or mild incontinence.
There are 3 options for cloth pantyliners:
The tangaslip (T) for use with thong underwear
The mini pantyliner (XS) for very small bodies
The regular pantyliner (S).

Day menstrual pads:

Medium-strong absorption day reusable fabric pad. Here we have two options:
The day pad M, for lighter periods, days with less flow, or for changing the pad more frequently. It’s also useful for moderate urine leaks.
The day pad L, which is the same size as the M pad but has a higher absorption capacity. This allows you to wear it for longer hours, or for more abundant bleeding or urine loss and severe incontinence.

Cloth pads at night:

The reusable fabric pad at night has a very strong absorption since we wear it for many hours, and it is also longer at the back, which makes it ideal for nights or for being in a horizontal position. Additionally, it is increasingly recommended to give your pelvic floor a break for a few hours and avoid wearing a menstrual cup at night if you use one.
At nüshu, we have created two versions of the night cloth pad:
The XL night pad, which has a high absorption capacity and is longer.
The super XXL night pad, which offers extra absorption and is wider than the previous one, with a peacock tail shape at the back to absorb a larger amount of blood.

The 4XL Giant Cloth Diaper:

This extra large cloth pad is exclusively designed for those people who bleed a lot during their periods. It is very large and very long and has a great absorption capacity.

You probably already know that we are cyclical! Keeping a record gives you a lot of information about how you feel (physically, emotionally, and mentally) in each phase of your cycle. I invite you to download this menstrual chart and start putting it into practice! It’s a tool that, if used well, will be incredibly valuable to you!
