How to wash and care for nüshu’s reusable menstrual bed protector
Blood stains are usually difficult to remove.
Once the protector is stained with blood, soak it in cold water for a while (never hot water, as it sets the blood color into the fabric). The blood will gradually release from the fabric.
After soaking for a while, you can wash it by hand with neutral soap and hang it to dry the next day, or put it in the washing machine with the rest of your laundry.
However, if you choose the washing machine, make sure to follow the product’s technical sheet described above: never wash it at more than 60 °C / 140 °F and never put it in the dryer afterwards. This would damage the fabric and shorten its lifespan.
To remove more stubborn stains, there are many options—from traditional remedies like hydrogen peroxide or sunlight (also antibacterial) to more modern ones like sodium percarbonate or other stain removers. But the most effective of all is learning to embrace the stains, since they are yours, from your menstrual blood that comes from within you. And after all, it’s possible that you’ll stain the menstrual bed protector again in just a few days.
How many menstrual bed protectors do you need and how to use them?
With 1 or 2 reusable protectors you can rotate if you use them every night. Place it directly on top of the fitted sheet and lie down on it.
You can also take one with you when traveling or during postpartum recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions about the reusable menstrual bed protector
Is it only for menstruation?
No. You can use it postpartum, for urine leaks, for sexual activity, or any situation where you want to protect the bed.
Does it move while I sleep?
It shouldn’t move. The outer fabric helps it stay in place. If you move a lot at night, it may shift. That’s why there’s an option to customize the size and even add elastic bands to secure it to the mattress.
How much does it absorb?
It has medium-high absorbency, designed for bleeding or light leaks, but it doesn’t reach the absorbency level of the super model.
How long does it last?
Up to 5 years with proper care.
Can I use it directly on the skin?
Yes. The fabric is soft to the touch, silent, and doesn’t cause sweating. It also has an OEKO TEX certification, guaranteeing that it contains no toxic or harmful substances.
Can I use it for babies or elderly people?
In those cases, I recommend the baby bed protector or the super absorbent model, as they are designed for different needs.
